PokerStat is a shareware program that analyzes online poker hand histories. Using the statistical data generated from analyzing hand histories can improve your play. The program also supports reading in tournament results. Currently versions support analysis of hold'em and omaha Paradise Poker hand histories.

What is PokerStat?

PokerStat is a powerful statistical database program that allows you to not only know and analyze your opponent's weaknesses and strengths, but also your own. PokerStat supports Hold'Em and Omaha Hi and HiLo 8 games and tournaments on Paradise Poker *. No-limit and pot-limit hands and tournament results are also supported.
PokerStat is a shareware statistical analysis program for poker hand histories and tournament results, designed for intermediate to advanced players at all limits. Anyone who want to start winning, or improve their winnings, will benefit from PokerStat's statistical analysis. PokerStat is not designed for beginning players, or players who play for fun only and not to win. Currently it supports Paradise Poker * Hold'Em and Omaha games and tournaments.
Personally, I find that keeping detailed records of your play really forces you to improve, since you can easily see if, and how much you are losing/winning by. You can also easily spot your weaknesses (for example, I found out that I wasn't defending the blinds enough). I also found out that I was losing when I played past a certain time. Finding leaks like this and plugging them more than pays for the cost of PokerStat after a few sessions!
