E
Early Position
A position in which you must act before a majority of the
players during a round.
Equity
Your "rightful" share of a pot. It gives you an idea
of how much you can "expect" to win.
Even Money
A bet in which you hope to win the same amount as you bet.
Expectation
Expectation is a term referring to the amount of you expect to
gain on average if you make a certain play.Or the amount you expect
to make at the poker table in a specific time.

Face Card
This is a king, queen, or jack.
Family Pot
A pot in which all (or a majority) of the players call before
the flop.
Fast
As in "play fast." Which is to play a hand aggressively,
betting and raising as much as possible.
Fill Up
To 'Fill up' is to make a full house.
Fish
A poor player; an amateur who is losing a lot of his or her
money.
Fishhooks
Another name for Jacks.
Five-Card Draw
A draw poker game in which the players start with five cards
and then may draw to replace them with others.
Five-Card Stud
A stud poker game in which each player gets four exposed
cards and one concealed card.
Fixed Limit
A term used in limit poker where any betting structure in
which the amount of the bet on each particular round is pre-set.
Flashed Card
A card which is partially exposed.
Floor Person
A casino employee who seats players and makes decisions.
Flop
The first three community cards, put out all together, face
up, .
Flush
A poker hand that consists of five cards of the same suit.
Fold
To throw a hand away.
Forced Bet
A wager required to start the action on the first betting
round.
Foul
A hand which may not be played for a reason.
Fourth Street
The second upcard in seven-card stud or the first boardcard
after the flop in hold'em which is also known as the turn card.
Fouled Hand
A dead hand.
Free Card
A turn or river card on which you don't have to call a bet
because of play earlier in the hand.
Free Roll
A chance to win something with no risk or cost.
Full Buy
A buy-in of at least the minimum amount of chips needed for
a particular game.
Full House
A hand with consists of three of a kind and a pair.
Flop Games
A family of poker games played with five of the community
cards. The first three cards, turned face up together , are called
the flop. Popular flop games include Texas Hold 'Em and Omaha.
Flush
A flush is a five cards of the same suit.
Flush Draw
Having four cards of the same suit, and hoping to draw a
fifth card to make a flush.
Four Of A Kind
Four cards of the same rank.
Full House
Any three cards of the same rank, plus any pair of a different
rank.

Gutshot Straight
An straight filled "inside". If you have 8s-9s,
the flop comes 7c-5h-2d, and the turn is the 6c, then you've made
your gutshot straight.
Gut-Shot
It's a card drawn to fill an inside straight.

Hand
A hand is the player's best five cards.
Heads Up Play
When only two players are involved in play.
Heads Up
A pot that only two players are contesting.
High-Low
A poker game in which the highest and lowest hands share
the pot. This is also called High-Low Split.
Hit
To pull the card one is looking for.
Hit And Run
A player who has only been at the table a little while and
leaves after winning a large pot.
Hold 'Em
Hold 'Em is a form of poker in which players use five community
cards in combination with their two hole cards to form the best
five-card hand.
Hole
The concealed card or cards.
Hole Card
A card concealed in a player's hand.
Home Run Hitter
A player who makes big plays that require biggest risk.
Hot
Said of a player on a winning streak.
House
The establishment running the game.

Implied Odds
The amount of money you expect to win if you make your hand
against the amount of money it will cost you to continue playing.
Inside Straight
Four cards requiring one in the middle to fill a straight.

Jackpot
This is a special bonus paid to the loser of a hand if he
gets a very good hand beaten. The jackpot is funded with money
removed from the game as part of the rake.
Jackpot Poker
A type of poker in which the cardroom offers a jackpot for
particularly bad beats. Typically you must have aces full or better.
Jacks Or Better
A form of draw poker in which a player needs a minimum of
a pair of Jacks to start the betting.
Joker
The fifty-third card in the deck which is used as a wild
card.

Kansas City Low Ball
It's a form of draw poker low also known as deuce-to-seven,
in which the best hand is 7-5-4-3-2 and straights and flushes
count against you.
Kicker
A kicker is the highest unpaired card that helps determine
the value of a five-card poker hand.
Kill
This is an oversize blind, usually twice the size of the
big blind and doubling the limit.
Kill Button
A button used in a lowball game to indicate a player who
has won two pots in a row and is needed to kill the pot.
Kill Pot
A pot with a forced kill by the winner of the two previous
pots, or the winner of an entire pot of sufficient size in a high-low
split game.
Kick It
Another term for 'to raise'.
Kicker
This is the highest unpaired side card.
Knave
Another name for a Jack.
